The distributor’s investments in AI, digital commerce and pricing technology also demonstrate how competitive advantage is increasingly being driven by technology rather than branch count alone.
The gap was the starting point for a DSG Tech Talk conversation between Ian Heller and Aaron Sheehan, vice president of strategy at OroCommerce. Sheehan said the failure to move from pilot to production usually traces to two technical barriers: data and connectivity.
The expanded program is intended to support contractors beyond the purchase of building materials by providing savings on operating expenses and access to business management tools.
Together, the additions broaden the marketplace across 200 product categories, including electrical, industrial, information technology, laboratory supplies, foodservice equipment, facility maintenance, and workplace furnishings.
For distributors, the European launch reflects the accelerating adoption of embedded AI within ERP platforms, with capabilities aimed at improving inventory planning, sourcing, fulfillment, financial workflows, and operational decision-making from within existing enterprise systems.
